Lysosomes were discovered by Christian de Duve in 1955 but were names and observed under the electron microscope by Novikoff in 1956.
Ribosomes were first seen by Claude in 1941 but first studied but Robinson and Brown in 1953 in Bean root cells and Palade in 1955 in animal cells. Palade in 1955 also gave them the present name.
