Cholera is an infection of the small intestine by some strains of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is a type of fluid replacement used to prevent or treat dehydration caused because of cholera. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum.
