∙ Amnion:
It is a membrane that closely covers the human embryo when first formed.
It fills with amniotic fluid, which causes the amnion to expand and become the amniotic sac that provides a protective environment for the developing embryo by keeping it moist and protecting it from mechanical injuries.
∙ Chorion:
It is the outermost membrane surrounding the embryo. The chorion develops a rich supply of blood vessels and forms an intimate association with the uterine lining of the mother.
Chorion and the uterine lining together form the placenta, which is the embryo's principal organ of respiration, nutrition, and excretion.
∙ Allantois:
It is a layer that is present between the amnion and chorion. It originates from the digestive canal of the embryo and develops into a tube-like structure called the umbilical cord.
