Solution

(A) Innate immunity (iv) Interferons

  1. Immunity inherited by a child at the time of birth is called innate immunity.
  2. It is naturally acquired by a person due to its genetic makeup so it is not disease-specific.
  3. Innate immunity provides a self-defense mechanism to our body.

(B) Acquired immunity (v) Antibodies

  1. Immunity developed after birth and throughout life due to the generation of antibodies is called acquired immunity.
  2. It is of two types: i) Active Immunity and ii) Passive Immunity.

(C) Passive immunity (ii) Breast milk

  1. Passive immunity is developed by the introduction of antibodies into our bodies.
  2. Passive immunity can provide immediate relief since directly antibodies are introduced into the body, but this immunity does not persist for a long time.
  3. Breast milk contains colostrum in the initial few days of lactation and contains abundant antibodies to protect infants.

(D) Active immunity (iii) Natural infection

  1. Active immunity gets developed due to the generation of antibodies in our body in response to the entry of the antigen from outside.
  2. The development of this kind of immunity takes some time, but it lasts for a long time.

(E) Autoimmunity (i) Rheumatoid arthritis

  1. Autoimmune disease is a disease when the immune system of the body fails to recognize normal body cells with external induced material (self cells with non-self cells).
  2. In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system attacks the lining of the joints leading to inflammation of the points. This leads to pain and stiffness in joints.
