Match the entries of column I with column II
Device/Machine | Energy Conversion |
(a) Hand blender | (i) Electrical → Heat |
(b) Flashlight | (ii) Chemical → Heat → Mechanical |
(c) Electric kettle | (iii) Electrical → Mechanical |
(d) Steam engine | (iv) Chemical → Electrical → Light |
(a) - (iii), (b) -(iv), (c) - (i), (d) - (ii)
Hand blender:- It is a device which converts input electrical energy to output mechanical energy.
Flashlight:- It is a device in which chemical energy (stored energy) of batteries converts into electrical energy. As electrical energy is supplied to the bulb it converts to light and heat energy.
Electric kettle:- It is a device which converts input electrical energy to output heat energy.
Steam engine:- A steam engine requires steam to move. The chemical energy stored in the fuel is converted to heat energy which is further used to convert water into steam. This steam is further used to provide movement to the parts of the steam engine to move forward or backwards (mechanical energy). Hence, the chemical energy of the fuel is converted to heat energy and further to mechanical energy.
