Epithelial tissue can be broadly classified depending on the number of cell layers and the shape of the cell. If the epithelium has a single layer of cells it is calle simmple epithelium and if it contains multiple layers, its called stratified epithelium. Depending on shape of cells epithelium can be - squamous (flattened cells), cuboidal (cube like cells), columnar (length is more than the width).
