(A)Pituitary gland (III)Dwarfism

  1. Pituitary gland or hypophysis is a very small, pea seed shaped, unpaired rounded body located at the base of the brain.
  2. Growth hormone is secreted by pituitary gland that stimulates the overall growth of the body
  3. Dwarfism is a physiological disorder in man caused by the low secretion of growth hormone. It is characterized by stunted growth of the skeleton.

(B) Adrenaline (IV) During stress and fear

  1. Adrenal gland produces a hormone adrenaline which prepares the body to face an emergency situation, violent stress etc. It is also known as fight and flight hormone.
  2. The two small, brownish, flattened and triangular cup-like structures, located one on the top of each kidney is known as adrenal gland.
  3. Adrenaline increases the rate of heart beat and also increases blood pressure during stress.

(C) Goiter (I)Deficiency of iodine in food

  1. Iodine is an essential element that regulates the oxidation of food inside our body.
  2. The deficiency of iodine leads to swelling of the neck which is known as goiter. It also leads to dwarfism, mental retardation and swelling of the hands and face.

(D) Diabetes (II)Sugar level increase in blood

  1. Deficiency of insulin in the body causes a metabolic disorder called diabetes mellitus.
  2. Symptoms of diabetes includes increase in blood sugar level, increase in thirst etc.
  3. Insulin is secreted by pancreas gland that decreases blood sugar level by stimulating utilization of glucose in body cells.

(E) Adam's apple (V) Adolescence

  1. There is a change in voice of the boys due to the enlargement of the voice box (also called larynx).
  2. The voice box becomes visible outside the throat region as a small protuberance called the Adam's apple.
  3. Due to this boys generally develop a deep voice. There is no such change in the girls and they normally have a high-pitched voice.
