Solution
Nitrification is the process by which ammonia is converted into nitrite and then to nitrate by nitrifying bacteria. It is an aerobic process performed by chemoautotrophic bacteria.
Denitrification is the opposite of nitrification. Here nitrate present in the soil is reduced by denitrifying bacteria to nitrogen. Pseudomonas and Thiobacillus are denitrifying bacteria.
Ammonification is the process where microscopic organisms like bacteria or other types of decomposing organisms, break down nitrogen-containing chemicals from dead organic matter, into simple substances like ammonia.
