Fundus and body of the stomach has oxyntic glands which is composed of three types of cells:
  • mucous neck cells- secrete mucus, bicarbonate and pepsinogen
  • oxyntic/parietal cells- secrete HCl and Castle's intrinsic factor
  • chief/peptic cells- secrete pepsinogen (proenzyme), gastric amylase and gastric lipase
