In the animal kingdom, the sub phylum Vertebrata is divided into 6 classes:
  • Class Cyclostomata - Marine animals with characteristic jaw-less round mouths provided with suckers. Ex: Petromyzon.
  • Class Pisces - Cold blooded aquatic creatures that consists of fishes. Ex: Shark, Electic ray, etc.
  • Class Aves - Warm blooded vertebrates completely adapted for aerial life. Consists of birds. Ex: Eagle, Pigeon, Parrot, etc.
  • Class Reptilia - Scaly cold blooded animals that creep on land. Ex: Snakes, Crocodiles, Tortoise, etc.
  • Class Amphibia - Moist skinned animals capable of breathing on land as well as underwater. Ex: Frog, Salamander, etc.
  • Class Mammalia - Warm blooded animals that have characteristic mammary glands. Ex: Human being, Cow, Goat, etc.
