The following are the positions of image with respect to the positions of object, in case of a biconvex lens:
  • When the object is at infinity on one side of the lens, the image is formed at the focus (F), on the other side of the lens.
  • When the object is somewhere beyond the centre of curvature (C) on one side of the lens, the image is formed between C and F, on the other side of the lens.
  • When the object is between C and F on one side of the lens, the image is formed somewhere beyond C, on the other side of the lens.
  • When the object is at F on one side of the lens, the image is formed at infinity, on the other side of the lens.
