Solutions conduct electricity when there are free ions present in it.
- Nitric acid (HNO3) is a strong acid. It dissociate into its respective ions when dissolved in water as H⁺ and NO3⁻ and these ions helps in conduction of electricity.
-Acetic acid(CH3COOH) is a weak acid, so it does not dissociate completely into its ion i.e CH3COO⁻ and H⁺. So conduction of electricity is low as compared to strong acid.
- Methane(CH4) does not dissociate into ions when dissolved in water and hence does not conduct electricity.
