Alluri Seetha Rama Raju organised a protest movement surrounding the borders of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Alluri Seetha Rama Raju raided police stations around Chintapalle, Rampachodavaram, Dammanapalli, Krishnadevipeta, Rajavommangi, Addateegala, Narsipatnam and Annavaram.
In the process of the revolt, Alluri Seetha Rama Raju and his followers stole guns, ammunition and killed several British officers. They ended up killing an important British officer named Scott Coward near Dammanapalli.
In December 1922, the British government finally deployed a company of Assam Rifles near Pegadapalle under the leadership of Saunders.
