The river Beas originates in the Beas Kund, near Rohtang pass in Himachal Pradesh, at the height of 4361mt above sea level. The Rajasthan feeder canal, also known as the Indira Gandhi command canal carries water down to Rajasthan, providing water primarily for drinking and irrigation purposes. Kali Bein is an important tributary that meets Beas at Harike. Beas is a tributary of the Satluj. It meets the Satluj at Harike and flows into the Indus in Pakistan.
