A lever is a simple machine. It moves about a fixed point called fulcrum. The distance between load and fulcrum is called load arm. The distance between effort and fulcrum is called effort arm.
If the effort arm is greater than the load arm, it is called a force multiplier. In case of see-saw, the effort arm is equal to the load arm. If the load arm is greater than the effort arm, it is called speed multiplier.
