Solution

Before 1990, Nepal was a constitutional monarchy. It gained democracy in 1990.

However, in 2001, King Birendra was assassinated and King Gyanendra became the new king.

The new monarch dismissed the parliament in 2005. Pro-democracy movements led by political parties and Maoist groups forced the new monarch to resign.

In 2008, a new constituent assembly was elected and monarchy was abolished in Nepal. The new Constitution of Nepal was finalised in 2015.
