Solution

Silver metal is extracted by amalgamation process:
Ag+Hg(Hg)Distl−−Ag+Hg
Calcium is extracted by the electrolysis of fused mixture of CaCl2, and CaF2.
When zinc blende is used, the powdered ore is concentrated by froth floatation process. The concentrated ore is heated in excess of oxygen at about 900"C. Zinc sulphide is oxidized to zinc oxide. If some of the ore is oxidized to zinc sulphate, it also decomposes at 900C into ZnO. This is roasting. It is followed by reduction, The reaction that takes place during reduction is the conversion of the oxide into metal with the help of carbon.
2ZnS+3O2Δ2ZnO+2SO2
ZnSO4ΔZnO+SO2+12O2
ZnO+CΔZn+CO
For iron, first by calcination and roasting, the ferrous oxide is oxidized to ferric oxide. Then, in blast furnace, smelting is done, where it is reduced to get iron.
4FeO+O22Fe2O3
Fe2O3+CO2Fe3O4+CO2
Fe2O3+COFeO+CO2
FeO+COFe+CO2
Copper is extracted by self-reduction.
2Cu2S+3O22Cu2O+2SO2
Cu2S+2Cu2O6Cu+SO2
