Based on particle size, homogenous mixtures are divided into three types.
Solutions- particle size <1 nm, with examples being salt solution, sugar solution.
Colloids- particle size lies between 1nm and 1000 nm and they display properties such as tyndall effect, brownian motion etc. Eg- Paints, varnishes, dust in the air, etc.
Suspensions- particle size is greater than 1000 nm. Here, the particles settle down on standing after sometime and can also be separated using a filter paper. Eg- Mud suspension, milk, blood, etc.
