Solution

The correct option is B i – q, ii – p, iii – s, iv – r

Theory of panspermia states that life on Earth came from space through meteorites in the form of spores. It is also known as interplanetary theory/ Cosmozoic theory which was proposed by Richter and supported by Arrhenius.

According to the theory of special creation, life was created by supernatural power / God. The greatest supporter of this theory was Father Suarez.

Theory of abiogenesis states that life spontaneously emerges from decaying rotting matter. Von Helmont supported this idea by giving a example of the conditions which encourages the infestation of rats. He kept a sweat soaked shirt inside an earthen pot with wheat grains. After 21 days, he found some rats inside the earthen pot, thus supporting the theory of abiogenesis.

Oparin of Russia and Haldane of England proposed that the first form of life could have come from pre-existing, non-living organic molecules (e.g. RNA, protein, etc.). Further, the formation of life was preceded by chemical evolution.
