We take in food through our mouth and the digestion of food starts here. The partially digested food then passes through the oesophagus into the stomach. The stomach churns the food and also produces gastric juice. Food then passes into the small intestine. The small intestine absorbs all the nutrients and pass on the digested food to the large intestine which absorbs the water from the food.
