Dendrites, cell body and axon are the various parts of neuron. Dendrites are the branched projections which arise from the cyton and receive the nerve impulses.
Another long unbranched projection that arises from the cyton is called axon. And it carries the impulse away from the cyton. The axon is covered by a lipid layer called the myelin sheath which acts as an insulator and increases the speed of impulse along the axon.
