Pinna is the outer visible part of the ear. It's function is to collect sound and direct it through the auditory canal to the inner parts of the ear. Tympanum, also known as the eardrum, is a membrane that vibrates and transmits sound to the ossicles. Ear ossicles are three tiny bones whose function is to amplify and transmit the sound waves to the cochlea. After the sound waves are converted to impulses, the auditory nerve transmits the impulses to the cerebrum.
