Dr M. S. Swaminathan is known as the father of the Green Revolution in India, a program that helped India in greatly increasing its agricultural production by using high yield variety seeds. The experiment in co-operative dairy movement by Dr. Verghese Kurien led to the increase of milk production in India. This is called the ‘White Revolution’. Dr. Homi Babha oversaw India's nuclear energy program for the generation of electricity and defence purposes. Vikram Sarabhai established the Indian National Committee for Space Research in 1962 which later became the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
