Prisms are usually generated when 2 - dimensional shapes like rectangles, circles, etc. are dragged or extended in a perpendicular direction.
Let's take the first case:
On observing the diagram we can conclude it to be originated from a pentagon as the front and the back face have pentagonal shapes.
Similarly for the diagram shown below:
On observing the front or the rear we can conclude the basic shape to be a triangle.

Similarly observing the prism shown below:

On observing the front and the rear face we observe the shape to be a circle.
