  • If the numerator of a negative rational number is less than the denominator then they lie between 0 and -1.
So, 13 lies between 0 and -1
  • If the numerator of a negative rational number is more than the denominator then they lie beyond -1.
So, 43 lies between -1 and -2

Positive numbers are greater than 0
  • If the numerator of a positive rational number is less than the denominator then they lie between 0 and 1.
So, 13 lies between 0 and 1
  • If the numerator of a positive rational number is more than the denominator then they lie beyond 1.
So, 43 lies between 1 and 2.
