Thermo-emf generated is given by E=aθ+12bθ2 where θ is temperature diference.

dEdθ=a+bθ

The emf is maximum when dEdθ=0 or θ=ab . This is the neutral temperature.

And, the maximum emf is Emax=a(ab)+12b(ab)2=a22b

The emf becomes zero(0) at θ=2ab.This is the inversion temperature.


Thermoelectric power is given by dEdθ=a+bθ
