The partion of Bengal was widely criticised and paved the way for the Anti-Partition movement. This movement involved leaders like Ananda Mohan Bose who was the co-founder of the Indian Association, Bipin Chandra Pal, a radical leader of the Indian National Congress. The Indian Association was founded by Surendranath Banerjea who also headed the newspaper, The Bengalee. Even Rabindranath Tagore participated in the movement and composed Amar Sonar Bangla.
