LH (leuteinizing hormone), FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and prolactin are produced by the anterior pituitary lobe. LH and FSH are also called gonadotropic hormones because they stimulate the gonads. In males they stimulates the production of testosterone from the testes and in females they induce ovulation by the ovary. Prolactin stimulates breast or mammary gland development and milk production in pregnant women.
