Solution

The correct option is D A- 4, B- 1, C- 5, D- 3, E- 2
Neutrophils are the most abundant type of WBCs. They are phagocytic in nature and are able to engulf foreign substances (like bacteria) and acts as the scavenger. So, option A matches with option 3.
Basophils are granulocytes, i.e., they contain large cytoplasmic granules in the cell nucleus and it stores histamine, a vasodilator and also, contain anticoagulant heparin. So, option B matches with option 1.
In type I hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, there is a release of mediators from eosinophils. So, option C matches with option 5.
Monocytes are a type of WBCs that mature in different types of macrophages at different locations. Their main function is phagocytosis. So, option D matches with option 4.
Lymphocytes are B-cells or T-cells and they have receptors on their surface and they produce antibodies. So, option E matches with option 2.
Thus, the correct answer is option A.
