Percolation rate depends on the size of soil partices.
Larger the particle size, the easier it is for water to trickle into the soil. Thus, the percolation rate is the highest for sandy soil. Clayey soil has the least particle size and hence has the lowest percolation rate. Loamy soil on the other hand has a moderate percolation rate.
