1. Vitamin A is also called as retinol. The deficiency of this vitamin results in loss of eyesight or night blindness. Nyctalopia is the term used to refer night blindness.
2. Vitamin B1 is called as thiamine. The deficiency of this vitamin results in beriberi. It affects the nervous and the circulatory system.
3. Vitamin C is called as ascorbic acid. The deficiency of this vitamin causes scurvy. Scurvy is characterised by bleeding gums, rash, fatigue and weakness.
4. Vitamin D deficiency results in rickets. Bending of the long bones is a common symptom. Due to deficiency, the bones become brittle and fractures or breaking of the bones is also observed.
