Based on appearance, epithelial tissues are classified as:
(i) squamous epithelium: The squamous epithelium is composed of thin, flat, closely packed cells.
(ii) stratified epithelium: The stratified epithelium is made up of several layers of the same or different kind of epithelial cells
(iii) cuboidal epithelium: The cells of this epithelial tissue are cuboidal in shape.
(iv) columnar epithelium: The columnar epithelium contains vertically arranged cylindrical cells or brick - like cells.
