Solution

The correct option is D A- 2, B- 4, C- 5, D- 3, E- 1
The edible part of the apple is the thalamus which is fleshy. Coconuts are classified as a fibrous one-seeded drupe. The fruit of the coconut is a large, dry drupe composed of a thin outer layer (exocarp), a thick, fibrous middle layer called as a mesocarp and a hard inner layer called as an endocarp that surrounds a large seed. A small, cylindrical embryo is embedded in the endosperm nutritive tissue just opposite the functional germination pore. Jackfruit is a sorosis, a type of multiple or composite fruits which develops from spike or spadix or catkin, where the fleshy and juicy part is formed from the axis, the bract and the perianth. The edible flesh of the pineapple is not the true fruit. It is an accessory fruit. It develops from the large, fleshy receptacle of one flower. In guava, the fleshy thalamus and pericarp are edible.
Thus, the correct answer is option D.
