K shell is the 1st orbit having the lowest energy and filling of the electrons is from the lowest energy to the highest energy i.e the electrons are first filled in the K shell and then remaining electrons are filled in L shell.
According to 2× n2 formulae, the K shell can accommodate only 2 electrons and the rest of the shells are filled with the same formulae.
The maximum number of electrons in each shell is as follows:

K-Shell will be=2 × 12=2
L- Shell will be=2 × 22 = 8
M- Shell will be= 2 × 32 =18
N- Shell will be= 2 × 42= 32
