Solution

The sex of most mammals like cows and humans are determined by XX-XY system of sex chromosomes. Male carries XY while the female carries XX chromosomes.

In birds, the total number of chromosome is same in both males and females. But two different types of gametes in terms of the sex chromosomes, are produced by females, i.e., females are heterogametic. Females have ZW genotype whereas males have a pair of ZZ-chromosomes, besides the autosomes.

Butterfly is an example of XX-XO type of sex determination in which the males have only one X-chromosome besides the autosomes, whereas females have a pair of XX-chromosomes.

In bees, sex is determined by haplo-diploidy. Female queen bee has diploid number of chromosomes whereas all the male worker bees have only haploid chromosomes.
