Match the salient features of genetic code.
Genetic code is defined as structure of nitrogen bases in mRNA molecule which contain the information for the synthesis of protein molecule. Codon is the sequence in mRNA, which code for a single amino acid. A single amino acid is specified by a sequence of three nucleotides in mRNA. Due to triplet nature, it consists of 64 codons. AUG or GUG are the initiation codons which initiates the synthesis of polypeptide chains. The codon UAA, UGA and UAG are known as termination codons.
