Extraction of crude metal from concentrated ore:

Reduction of metal oxides: Metal oxides present in the middle of the reactivity series like Zn(Zinc), Fe(Iron), Sn (Tin), and Pb (Lead) are reduced to free metals by using carbon or carbon monoxide.

Extraction of Lead: Less electropositive metals can be extracted by self reduction.

So Lead can be extracted by self reduction and reduction by carbon, whereas Tin is extracted only by carbon reduction.
