Solution

The correct option is C
  1. Granules

  1. In the laboratory method, Hydrogen(H2) gas is prepared by the action of dilute Sulphuric acid(H2SO4(dil)) on granulated Zinc(Zn).
  2. Granulated Zinc which contains an impurity like copper, acts as a positive catalyst.
  3. A positive catalyst always increases the rate of a chemical equation.
  4. Granulated Zinc gives more surface area for the acid to act, so Hydrogen gas is formed faster.
  5. That is why granulated Zinc is preferred over pure Zinc for the laboratory preparation of hydrogen gas. Hence, all the other forms of Zinc given in the options are incorrect.

Therefore, option (c) is correct. i.e., in the laboratory method for H2 gas preparation granulated form of Zn is used.
