Open in App
Solution

It is a property of mean
Answer is 20*3 =60

Explanation

mean of 12 numbers =270

Let the12 numbers be, x1, x2, x3, ....., x12

=x1, x2, x3, ....., x 1 2 /12= 20

= x1, x2, x3, ....., x12 = 20*12=240... eqn 1

Now when each number is multiplied by 3, then new set of 12 numbers is: So, new mean =

x1*3, x2*3, x3*3, ....., x12*3/12= 3*(x1, x2, x3, ....., x12 )/12 = 3*20 = 60[using eqn 1]

Hence, new mean = 108 ans .
