Question 19
Meena draws magnetic field lines of field close to the axis of a current carrying circular loop. As she moves away from the centre of the circular loop she observes that the lines keep on diverging. How will you explain her observation?

Solution

We know that the magnetic field produced by a current-carrying straight wire depends inversely on the distance from it. In a circular loop, the magnetic field lines are concentrated around the periphery but weaker near the centre of the loop. So, as we move away from the centre of the current carrying loop, the lines diverge and form close circles around the periphery.
