Solution

Let the present age of Soumya be x years. Then the present age of Meena=2x years.Meena's age when 6 years are subtracted from her age=2x-6 years.Soumya's age when 4 years are added to her age=x+4 years.According to the question:x+4=42x-6x+4=8x-24Subtracting x from both sides, we get4=7x-24Adding 24 to both sides, we get28=7x7x=28Dividing both sides by 7, we havex=287=4Therefore, the present age of Soumya is 4 years, her age two years ago=4-2=2 years.Present age of Meena=2x=24=8 years, her age two years ago=8-2 years=6 years.
