Mention a few rules to be followed while writing units.

Open in App
Solution

Here are some guidelines we need to follow while writing units:
  • While writing units not named after a scientist, always use small letters. It is '10 m' and not '10 M'
  • Next, while writing a unit named after a scientist we always use capital letters. It is '5 N' and not '5 n'
  • The above is true for symbols, but while writing the full names of units, we never use capital letters. it is '5 newton' and not '5 Newton'
  • We never write the plural form of unit symbols. '10ms - wrong' ; '10m - correct'
  • No punctuation marks should come in between compound units or at the end of the unit if the sentence is not over. '20cm. above the ground - wrong' '20 cm above the ground' - correct
