1. Destruction of homeland - due to deforestation the habitats of innumerable species are destroyed.
2. Lot of different species would become extinct without their habitat, and this in turn affects the food chain.
3. It increases the risk of soil erosion drastically.
4. It results in less amount of rainfall, leading to droughts.
5. It causes an increased amount of carbon dioxide in the air.
