Mention any three points in which respiration is exactly opposite of photosynthesis.
Respiration: Respiration is a metabolic process that occurs in all organisms. It is a biochemical process that occurs within the cells of organisms. In this process, the energy (ATP-Adenosine triphosphate) is produced by the breakdown of glucose which is further used by cells to perform various functions.
Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis is a process by which phototrophs convert light energy into chemical energy, which is later used to fuel cellular activities.
S. no. | Respiration | Photosynthesis |
1. | It is a catabolic process during which food material is broken down and energy is released. | It is an anabolic process in which food material is synthesized and energy is stored. |
2. | The raw material used are carbohydrates, fats etc. in anaerobic respiration and carbohydrate, fats etc. & oxygen in aerobic respiration. | The raw material required are carbon dioxide and water. |
3. | The end products are water, carbon dioxide and energy in the form of ATP. | The end products are oxygen, water and glucose (food). |
