Uses of forests:

• Forests help in the conservation of soil as their roots bind the soil and prevent the erosion of soil by water or wind.
• They can break the speed of the wind and thereby help in reducing wind speed, in regions of high wind speed.
• The forests are a good source of oxygen. The Amazon rainforests alone account for approximately 20% of the world's oxygen.
