Question

Mention any two factors on which the capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor depends.

Open in App
Solution

Formula of capacitance of parellel plate capacitor C=KAϵ0d, where K is the dielectric constant of the medium between the plates, A is the area of plates and d is the width of the gap between the plates.
Therefore the Capacitance depends on following factors:
1. Dielectric constant of the medium
2. Area of Plates
3. Width of gap between the plates

Note: By Relation Q=CV, Capacitance C is the proportionality constant for Potential difference between the plates and the charge on the plates. It depends on physical dimensions of the plates, not on the values of Q and V.
