The different aspects of fish culture are:
(i) Location of the pond where the fish are to be reared. The location for fish culture includes inland regions like rivers, reservoirs, lakes, ponds, or estuaries. Fish culture can be practiced in marine waters also, namely, in oceans and seas.
(ii) Quality of water – adequate water.
(iii) Soil quality – composition of particles and nutrients.
(iv) The temperature of water - a low temperature (18-20 degrees Celsius) is the most favourable for the growth of fish. The different aspects of fish culture are:
(v) The fish culture can be practiced in two ways: Monoculture: It involves rearing a single species of fish in a pond/reservoir. Composite fish culture: It is the method to culture five or six species of fish based on different feeding habit.
