The Biceps are described as the flexor muscles whereas, the triceps are described as the extensor muscles. They are both antagonistic in nature as a movement in one brings opposing movement in the other. Therefore, when the biceps contract on bending the arm, the triceps relax. On the other hand, when the arm is relaxed, the triceps contract, and the biceps relax. They are thus called antagonistic muscles.​
