Transpiration:

  1. It is the process of water loss in the form of water vapor from the stomatal openings of leaves and other aerial parts of the plants.

Types of transpiration:

Transpiration can be of two types- stomatal transpiration and lenticular transpiration.

  1. Stomatal transpiration is the process of loss of water from the surface of leaves through stomata.
  2. Lenticular transpiration is the process of loss of water from the small pores present on the surface of stems. These pores are called lenticles.

This occurs through green stems and leaves.This occurs through lenticels of older stems.
