Mention one significant difference between each of the following:
(i) Parenchyma and Sclerenchyma.
(ii) Epistasis and dominance.

(iv) Symplastic movement and apoplastic movement.
(v) Phenotype and Genotype.

Solution

(i) Parenchyma: They have thin cellulosic cell walls. They are living tissues responsible for storage, photosynthesis and thesecretion.
Whereas sclerenchyma has thick lignified cell wall. They are dead at maturity and provide protection to the different parts of the body.
(ii) Epistasis: In it, two pairs of genes are involved out of which one gene inhibits or masks the expression of another non-allelic gene.
Whereas in dominance, Out of a pair of allelomorphic characters, the one which appears in F1 generation.
(iii)Hormones of Ovulatory phase: Hormones (Estrogen and Luteinizing hormone) bring about ovulation and cause a Graafian follicle to develop into a corpus luteum which produces progesterone.
Whereas hormones of Luteal phase (progesterone) stimulates the uterine lining development before implantation of a fertilized egg.
(iv) Symplastic movement: Water moves from cell to cell via spaces in the cellulose cell walls. Whereas in apoplastic movement, Water moves from cell to cell in the cytoplasm via the plasma membranes and plasmodesmata.
(v) Phenotype: These are the external observable characters, controlled by genes. Whereas genotype is the genetic constitution of an organism.
